Narragansett Chapter Board Meeting

Call to Order – 6:00

Business Meeting  

Carl started meeting with a presentation and Powerpoint on AMC finances.  Joy St. is meeting with each chapter to discuss AMC finances as well as finances of the individual chapter.  He also discussed the strategic financial plan, the AMC reserves, chapter reserves and considerations going into the reserve. His slides will be available for review.

There was also a discussion on specifics relating to the Chapter’s finances.

 

Membership Meeting – April 2 – Approximately 25 people were present.  Talked about ways to make the club more diverse.  One topic that was discussed at the meeting was frustration over the AMC website and the difficulty to navigate it.  Faith asked for more details and most expressed the difficulties in getting to and using the calendar.

 

Annual Dinner – Barbara spoke about her preparations for the meeting.   She has booked a speaker, Ed Webster.   She would like to have a photo contest leading up to the event with displays at the event and awards given during it.  She distributed a flyer to the board that she would like to use to promote the contest. There was considerable discussion/suggestions about the flyer and the contest.   Barbara would like to distribute the contest flyer to the committees so that they can distribute their members.    

 

It was agreed that the speaker would be paid $650.  He has been sent a deposit for speaking.  

 

Barbara had a question about her spending limits.  She would like to solicit 100 gift cards to give out as door prizes or have people pay $5 and get a $25 card.   It was suggested that she consider getting fewer cards and/or solicit from larger value items.  It was noted that there is a limit of $1,000 that she can get in donations.  

 

Treasurer’s Report – Matt previously distributed the treasurers report and he gave a verbal report.  The

 

New Business

Camp Dodge  - The Worcester Chapter is raising money to help with some of the renovations at Camp Dodge.   Camp Dodge is  4-miles from the main lodge, Joe Dodge Lodge.  It is used by the teens groups, trail crew, volunteers, training and is a base for airlifting materials.  Some of the facilities are dated and there are plans to renovate the it.  The Worcester Chapter is requesting donations from chapters and will do a matching grant up to $10,000.  They requested $1,500 from the chapter.  There was a motion to donate $1,500 to support the Worcester Chapter’s effort.  It was seconded and unanimously approved.  Matt had questions on how to write the check.  

 

Spring Picnic -  Gregg reported that the park has been reserved and the organization is coming along.  The date is May 21st.   Amongst the other activities, LL Bean will be their doing a fly fishing demonstration.

 

Narragansett Trail – Kerry Robinson will speak at the May meeting to discuss her efforts to renovate the Trail.
